Shop Update

Happy new year, everyone! I'm starting the year off with a small shop update at In a Creative Bubble. There are four new journal card sets and two coordinating digital stamp sets to help you document the year's moments and memories. Find them in the new section of the store. Here's a look at what's new:

Hello 2018 Journaling Cards
Cheers to the new year :) I always like beginning the year with a new set of cards! I decided to stick with black and white for this set because I think this makes the cards really versatile. Several of them can be used for documenting things aside from the new year as well.

Best of Times Journaling Cards
I've been getting requests for new 'year in review' cards, so I redesigned this set again (the topics are similar to last year's cards). You can find last year's set here, and the previous year's 4x4 designs here. I love using these types of cards to sum up the year and highlight some of my favorite moments and memories. I blogged about my year end spread last year, so you can get an idea of how I use them. Decided to use a black and white color scheme again for ultimate versatility!

Everyday Moments Journaling Cards
This new set of everyday themed cards is bright and bold, with lots of fun type and clean designs. I'm excited to use these in my Project Life album!

Everyday Moments Digital Stamps

Keep Going Journaling Cards
A lot of people look for cards to help document real life/not-so-perfect/tough moments, and this is my interpretation of that theme. I decided to choose a bright color scheme with a kind of positive spin as a gentle reminder to keep going - you can get through life's challenges, one day at a time. I hope you like them!

Keep Going Digital Stamps

That's a wrap for the first update of 2018! Honestly, I'm incredibly behind on Project Life and I've still got to figure out a plan to tackle last year's ablum. More on that later, hopefully. Thank you for looking and as always, thank you for your support! xo.

December Daily 2017 // Part V

This past weekend was very busy, but I managed to work on my December Daily album a little bit. I'm nowhere near up to date but I'm still enjoying the process. I've been taking photos and keeping notes as usual so I'll remember what moments and events I want to put in my album later on.

DECEMBER 9 // Canyon Lights
This was my second visit to the Canyon Lights event this season (you can see how I documented it the first time over here). When I went about choosing my photos, I decided to focus on different details and various parts of the park that I didn't document last time. I really like how that turned out. My day ended up being multiple pages, with a 3x8 insert and an envelope in between my double page spread.

I've had these little gold alpha stickers in my stash for the longest time, and I'm glad I finally used them on my 3x8 photo of tree light bokeh at the park. They are super cute!

Here's how the spread looks with the 3x8 photo flipped over.

I used a 3x8 journaling card on the back of the 3x8 insert, but instead of writing down notes in the boxes on the original card, I printed out a strip of three photographs. On the photos, I wrote short captions and added gold star sequins to each of them.

I put my journaling inside the kraft envelope. This green 'happy note' is stationery from my stash.

Here's the other side of the spread when the envelope is flipped over.

Decided to do something different and instead of simply gluing this stamped tag/card on my envelope, I handstitched it on the top. I'm really happy with how that turned out and I'm loving all these layers and little details in my album.
I found this large wood veneer tree in my stash (possibly from Gossamer Blue?) and I used dye ink to make it green. The green of this wood veneer matches the stamped phrase on the tag I sewed onto my envelope.

DECEMBER 10 // Christmas Concert
This spread documents the concert we had at church. I thought the 'silent night' card was perfect for this spread; I believe it's from Ali Edwards' 2015 December Daily kit. The gold and white striped bag on the right holds the evening's program.

I decided to make the 'silent night' card flip up to hold additional journaling and information. Inside, I added QR codes with videos from the performance and some notes on my 'peace on earth' card (from the Make Merry no.3 set). If you're interested in adding QR codes/videos to your projects, Nicole Reaves has a great QR code tutorial on her blog.

DECEMBER 11 // Holiday baking
I was planning on using one of my Homemade journaling cards but forgot to print it out before I began working on my album. So I ended up looking through my stash and I found this great red plaid pattern from one of the past December Daily kits that coordinated well with my photo. Super simple spread but overall, a nice inclusion as part of my December stories and memories.

I wanted to add a bit of embellishing to the back of the envelope on the left hand side so I used a circle tag (from Make Merry elements no.1) and a rubber banner, a simple reminder to not let the stress and busyness of the holiday season get to me.

The alpha stickers on the plaid card are from Ali Edwards. Love the contrast between the white alphas and the dark red pattern.

I've completed up to December 13 in my book, so I have a few more pages to photograph and share. Hope your album is coming along as well. Thank you for looking! xo.

December Daily 2017 // Part IV

I've been working on my December Daily at a pretty steady pace every couple of nights, and I'm really happy with how it is progressing. I've got a few more pages to share here today!

DECEMBER 5 // Holiday treat
Yup, a second story for the 5th. No big deal to document more than one story a day! We went to a local ice cream shop to try their seasonal flavors :) This is a very simple spread with some journal cards and some photos. The giant wood veneer star is from a past Ali Edwards December Daily kit (2015, I think?). I added a kraft tag on the right side as a filler card and so I could include some layers in my album.

Since the spread was pretty simple, I wanted to add interest to the page somehow. I decided to stamp the names of the ice cream flavors on my journal card with some small alpha stamps (I got these in Japan). I like how it turned out, especially with my handwriting below it :) This Simple Joys journal card was a prototype for one of my card designs; I ended up updating it and changing the wording on the card in my store (it's from the Classic Holiday set).

I also added a digital stamp (from this set) to my photograph. There's space inside the circle to add a small embellishment so I used a gold puffy heart sticker.

Here's a close-up of the tag. I really love adding handstitched details to my pages.

DECEMBER 6 // Holiday crafting
When you flip over the tag, you'll find a large gold foiled number 6 (from a past December Daily kit). This 6 corresponds with the date and my nephew's age. I bought this patterned envelope at a local stationery store and it's a little bit taller than the page protectors, but that's ok. On the side of the envelope, I folded over a letterpressed label, added an alpha sticker, and handstitched the label down.  The envelope holds a drawing from my nephew :)

Here's the other side of the spread with the envelope flipped over.

On the other side of the folded over label, I simply stamped this phrase from Ali Edwards' Cheer stamp set (digital version here) using navy blue ink and added a gold star sticker.
Thought this was a good opportunity to use my cute yeti card from the Let it Snow cards no.1 set! I added a small stamped sentiment at the bottom.

-----------

DECEMBER 7 // A conversation
Documenting a conversation with my niece about her favorite ornaments on our tree :) I think it's nice to record small moments like this one because they'll be easily forgotten in the future.

DECEMBER 8 // Christmas cardmaking
Our annual tradition of making homemade Christmas cards continues! Another very simple page with a 4x6 photo and journaling cards.

This aqua card is from the Let it Snow cards no.1 set. I added a snowflake (punched out of white cardstock using a Martha Stewart punch) and a small wood veneer for a bit of dimension.

Got to use some of my favourite cards for this spread! The cheer card is from Make Merry no.1 and the nutcracker card is from Make Merry no.2.

More pages to come, hopefully. Have a good week! xo.
